Glory in the Highest

December 22 | Luke 2:13-14

Daily Bread

“Then suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace with people with whom He is pleased.” (Luke 2:13–14)

It’s a cool night outside Bethlehem. You just put the sheep in the earthen pan and laid across the opening. Your job isn’t over when the sun goes down. This dark night you protect the sheep. You are the gate and door.

Suddenly in the pitch black night an eye-piercing light blinds you. An angel appears and proclaims a special birth. The one light of the angel is enough, but then the sky fills with angels giving glory to God!

This must be some birth! Who can bring glory to God in heaven and piece on earth? You know the brutality of Roman soldiers. They call it the Roman Piece but it’s only because they have wars on several fronts.

That’s not true peace. Whoever this Kingly Person just born is, He can bring peace and glorify God while doing it. If He is a King, why are you, a shepherd on the bottom rung of society, hearing about this first? He sounds like a different kind of King. This is worth looking into. At the very least, you can tell everyone in Bethlehem about His birth.

Action Step: Tell others this Christmas season the true meaning of Christmas. Share about Jesus and how He has changed your life.

King Jesus, You are awesome to come and save me from darkness. May Your Spirit give me divine appointments this Christmas to share my story of how You changed my life. Give me open doors to proclaim my love for You.
