Don’t Be Anxious

December 31 | Matthew 6:25

Daily Bread

“”Therefore, I tell you, don’t be anxious about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t your life more than food, and the body more than clothing?”” (Matthew 6:25)

If you’re like me you think about all the little things in life. I think about lunch and dinner, providing for my basic needs, and all kinds of minutia that makes up life. Now that I am paralyzed in this season before Jesus heals me I think of even more basic needs like breathing and pain.

Jesus tells you not to be anxious for these little things. God knows what you need and He has always provided. Your life is about more than the basics, more than food and clothing. Your most basic need is not physical.

You need to feed your spirit. You need to take in God’s Word and seek the Lord in prayer. God takes care of your physical needs. Be poor in spirit, bankrupt without God. You must drink in every word that flows from God’s mouth.

Planning for the future is a wise thing to do as God’s steward. At the top of your list must be your spiritual health and growth. Grow deep roots in Jesus. Seek the Lord while He may be found.

Action Step: Take time in the Lord this year. Plan for moments to listen to what God has to say to you. Make the most of every opportunity.

Jesus, I need You more than my next breath. I need Your Word more than food. In this year, show me Your glory. Set my heart on things above. Help me see with Your eyes. May I hear what the Spirit speaks to me. I want to practice everything you teach me.
