Child of Light

December 21 | Isaiah 9: 2, 6

Daily Bread

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; the inhabitants in a land of deep darkness, light has shown on them…For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulder, and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:2, 6)

From 700 years earlier got prophesied Jesus’s birth through Isaiah! That’s a long time to know what will happen beforehand. But the ways Isaiah describes Jesus intrigue the mind. The prophetic look into the future shows God’s heart for everyone.

Isaiah describes Jesus as the light that shines on those in darkness who don’t know Jesus. Paul talks about their darkened hearts in Romans 1. Before you knew Jesus everything you did was futile. But when Jesus arrived He shined a light on everyone in darkness. He revealed God’s plan of salvation. His birth came with a bright star in the heavens over the stable. Angels proclaimed His birth to shepherds.

It’s not the fanfare kings’ births garnished. But God didn’t want all the wealthy Kingston oh. Jesus isn’t a King for the wealthy. He came for you. He showed that you are His priority. God’s Son was born for you.

He’s the greatest Christmas gift. One day, He will return and will build a great Kingdom. The government will rest upon Him. He will rule with righteousness. It all started in a manger in a stable over 2000 years ago.

Action Step: Thank Jesus for coming to save you. Even today, His light reveals God’s plan for your life.

Thank You, Jesus for revealing Yourself to me. I am so glad You saved me out of darkness into Your light. This Christmas season, may I never forget Your birth and the moment of my birth into Your family.
