September 26 | Matthew 17:2
“Then He was transfigured before them and His face shone like the sun and His garment became white as light.” (Matthew 17:2)
We can be physically present but mentally and spiritually checked out. These are times when we are there but not there. We miss out on so much. Our family notices when we have these moments. Fast forwarding through these moments robs us of the joy and blessings of being with others.
Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up on the mountain and is transfigured before them. They are witnesses to a powerful moment where Jesus reveals himself in a new way to them. What would you do in this moment of revelation?
Peter turned into Martha. He wanted to provide tents for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah. He was missing the moment. He wanted to do instead of just be in Jesus’ presence. There is no mention of what the three talked about. What a privilege to be in their presence and enjoy the revelation.
Jesus, Moses, and Elijah didn’t need tents to stay in. Jesus was showing a new side of Himself, His divinity. But Peter wanted to do something. He didn’t want to sit in the moment.
Jesus wants to do great things in your life by the Holy Spirit’s power. He wants you to be with Him in the moment. What distractions keep you from entering into His presence?
Action Step: Stay in the moments of revelation with Jesus. Ignore the distractions around you and enter into His presence.
Jesus, help me to enter into Your presence. I don’t want to miss the precious moments You set aside to spend with me. I want to abide with You. As Your Spirit envelops me in Your presence show me Your glory. Teach me to be still and know You are God.
