December 3 | Proverbs 15:22
“Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.” (Proverbs 15:22, ESV)
A lot of people believe they are on their own. They don’t think they can ask anyone for help or get advice from experts. And yet self-help books are flying off the shelves. Why are we not afraid to read a book but terrified to reach out to someone who can help us?
As we plan ahead with our finances so we can be a blessing to others many of us are afraid to ask for godly counsel. I have taken several financial classes here and there in church. They help me to understand God’s principles for finances. Don’t ask the world to teach you financial principles that glorify God.
The Bible tells us to seek out wise counselors in every area of our lives, especially finances. God expects you to gain counsel where you do not know how to glorify Him with your finances. It is better to be living the way that pleases God and stewarding the finances He entrusts to you then to be guessing and hoping you get it right.
Others can help you in your weak spots. Don’t be afraid to reach out to them and ask for godly counsel from people who understand God’s principles for finances better than you.
Action Step: Learn from those who have studied God’s Word in depth on financial matters. Set up a system that uses your finances to please God.
Lord, You have blessed me and entrusted Your resources to me. I want to be a good steward of all You have given me. Show me through the counsel of others how to glorify You as I work to put my finances in godly order.
