September 21 | 1 Samuel 10:10-11
“And when they came there to Gibeah, and behold, a group of prophets met him and the Spirit of God rushed upon him, and he prophesied among them. And when all who knew him previously saw him, and behold, he prophesied among the prophets, and the people said to one another, “What has come upon the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?”” (1 Samuel 10:10–11)
When’s the last time you had a mountaintop experience with God? I’m talking about those moments where God moves in your life in a powerful way. You never forget them. Moments like when God saved you, healed you, and provided for you in a tangible way.
Saul had a powerful experience with God before he became king of Israel. He didn’t become a prophet, but for a moment he was among them. When he met a group of prophets God’s Spirit rushed upon him. Prophecy was one of the most common reactions to God’s Spirit in the Bible.
The Spirit rushed upon Saul, overwhelming him and preparing him to be king. It’s not the last time God’s Spirit rushed upon Saul. His life would never be the same again.
When the Holy Spirit comes upon you He ministers through powerful ways. He changes your life, and the lives of others. People who knew Saul wondered if he was becoming a prophet. They saw God move in his life.
When the Holy Spirit comes upon you He uses you in ways that change you. People notice. Other people’s lives are changed.
Action Step: Ask the Holy Spirit to come upon you and change your life and the lives around you. Seek a powerful move of God like never before. Ask Him for revival and renewal in your life.
Holy Spirit, come upon me in a fresh way. Fill me with Your presence and power. Change my life. Minister through me in a new way.
