Abundantly Blessed

October 10 | Luke 6:38

“give, and it will be given to you, a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, overflowing they will give into your pouch, for with the measure you measure, it will be measured to you.”” (Luke 6:38)

There are different types of giving. Some people are stingy givers. Even if they have much they don’t want to give any of it away. Others give more than they should based on what they have. Still others sacrificially give.

During His Sermon on the Mount Jesus talked about giving. He said that when we give (and He didn’t tell us what to give or how much) we receive the blessing of the Lord. We know that the Lord lavishly blesses us. It’s in God’s nature to be generous.

When you receive from the Lord for your giving it will be in equal measure to what you gave. If you give a stingy amount you will get a stingy blessing. When you lavishly give you will lavishly receive. But be careful not to think God blesses you with money when you give money.

God has many avenues to bring His blessing to you. You may give money and receive a spiritual blessing through a sermon or a passage you read in the Bible. You may offer your time and talents as you volunteer and receive groceries on your doorstep in a time of need. Don’t limit God.

Action Step: Give abundantly and lavishly to the Lord. Don’t give to get blessed. But you will receive blessing when you faithfully give to the Lord and His work.

Lord Jesus, teach me to be generous and lavishly give. I want to help others with their needs. I want to bless the works of Your Kingdom. I don’t give to get from you. Made my heart right in my finances, volunteering, and ministering to others.
