March 20 | 2 Corinthians 9:6-8

“Now this is the point: the one who sows sparingly, sparingly will He harvest, and the one who sows bountifully, bountifully will He also harvest. Each one should give just as He has chosen in His heart, not reluctantly or out of obligation, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you so that at all times having all that you need you will abound in every good work.”
(2 Corinthians 9:6–8)
I was at a missions service with $24 in my wallet. They passed the collection bags. I asked the Spirit what to give. I had a $20 bill and four $1 bills. It was the first day of a three-day conference. I was hoping He’d say four dollars.
I needed the money to pay for my food. I didn’t make much on a pastor’s salary. But I wanted to honor the Lord no matter what He told me to give. Of course, the Spirit said put the $20 in the collection bag.
God honors your obedience. The New Testament doesn’t set a fixed rate to give to the Lord. It only tells us to give as we decide in our heart. You will never go wrong in being generous with what you give. Go big. They say you can’t out give God, and it’s true!
Every day of that conference ministers came up to me and asked me to go to lunch with them. God provided for all my needs. He did even more than I could have imagined. And He’ll do the same for you.
Action Step: Look for opportunities to be generous. Be abundant in your generosity and see how God will do more than you could imagine.
Jesus, teach me to be generous in all I give and do. I want to pour out blessings upon those around me. Make my heart full of Your grace and goodness. Make me a hilariously generous giver.
