A Very Productive Writing Retreat

A Very Productive Writing Retreat

I had my virtual writing retreat on Friday with my writing group. It went extremely well! I was able to put together four chapters of my book. I wrote over 4,300 words. I really got a lot done including my introduction to my book and three dramatized devotions that will appear in the book.

I also got the book organized, putting chapters where they belong and get a better picture of my table of contents. I am very happy with the results. The writing retreat uses the Pomodoro method, a way of arranging your work so you don’t burn out but become very productive.

The Pomodoro method gives you a 25 minute working session with a 5 minute time to relax and switch gears. Then it starts over. We did six or seven of them on Friday. It keeps you from working until you can’t think anymore. It is a great method for accomplishing a lot of work or just being productive.

We also had a special guest beaker after our lunch who encouraged us in our writing. It was a very successful virtual writing retreat. I wish I would use the Pomodoro method with my writing and other work more often. I always forget to do it. Maybe this will help me to get in gear and to use it more often to accomplish more in less time. Also, happy Independence Day! On this day, I like to thank God for my American freedoms and how He has blessed this nation. Even more important, I remember that Jesus has made me a citizen of heaven and how I live here matters to the Kingdom. I hope you are doing your best to represent Jesus well on this and every day until we go home to be with our Lord forever!
